History: Amaunet is a member of the Ogdoad, the first generation of the Egyptian Gods. She was the sister and wife of Ammon-Ra, monarch of the Egyptian gods, and divine ancestor of the Theban kings of Egypt, but when the central of their worship on Earth moved from Thebes to Heliopolis, Ammon-Ra gave up his rule to Osiris, the god of the dead. Amaunet also took a role as Maat, a judge of the afterlife, weighing the purity of mortal souls against a feather to determine their final fates in the underworld. It is possible because of her role in the underworld that she managed to escape Seth's takeover of Celestial Heliopolis, although Seth was overthrown in recent years with the help of the Asgardian gods. In recent years, Amaunet encountered Duke, Scarlet, Blowtorch and Gungho of GIJoe after they slipped through a portal in a buried pyramid into Duat, the Egyptian afterlife, but allowed them to returned to Earth after confusing their enemies, COBRA, as a cult devoted to Seth, the snake-god.

History: Anhur is a member of an extra-dimensional race of beings known as the Ennead who were worshipped as gods by the Ancient Egyptians from about 3800 BC to 400 AD. Anhur was the son of Osiris, who had ruled on Earth as a mortal pharaoh (ruler) until he was deposed by Seth, the god of evil. Anhur supported his brother, Horus, in deposing Seth, but under unexplained circumstances, he was not imprisoned with the rest of the Egyptian gods when Seth once again seized the throne. During World War Two, Anhur and Montu fought with the gods Ares and Nergal leading the Nazis into North Africa. In recent years, he has posed as a street gang member in Las Vegas.

History: Bata is a member of an extra-dimensional race of beings known as the Ennead who were worshipped as gods by the Ancient Egyptians from about 3800 BC to 400 AD. Bata was the son of Osiris and Nephthys, the wife of  Seth, who later overthrew Osiris. After Bata was wrongly accused of the rape of Qadesh, his brother's wife, he sought the protection of the god, Khnemu, who gave him his daughter, Hatmehyt, as a bride. Hatmehyt, however, showed Seth's armies how to kill him, but Anubis, now knowing how his brother had been wronged, used mystical means to return Bata to life.

History: Horus is a member of the Ennead, an extra-dimensional race of beings who were worshipped as gods by the Ancient Egyptians. Worshipped as god of the sun, he was replaced in this role by Horus II, the son of Osiris, who took over his worship. His remaining worship was linked to the ascending son descending to the horizon of Egypt. At some point in the past, the wizard Shazam invoked Heru as one of the deities to bestow the Egyptian chieftain Teth-Adam with god-like powers, but Teth-Adam instead used them to became the modern-day nemesis of Captain Marvel known as Black Adam. In modern years, Heru joined the Council of God-Kings against Akhenaton.

History: Khnemu is an ancient god of the Ogdoad pantheon of Egypt assigned with protecting the source of the Nile. It is unknown of he is connected in any way to Nilus, the son of Oceanus and Tethys from among the Olympian gods who lent his name to the river. He could be the same figure, but this is unrevealed. In ancient myths, Khnemu was credited with creating the first mortals under the direction of Ammon-Ra from mud and clay from the shore of the Nile, which later became sacred to the Egyptians. He was also known for showing the art of pottery to mortals and assisting the goddess, Heket, in the birth of younger gods. He seems to have been allies with Osirirs in the rule of Ancient Egypt, giving his daughters as wives to sons of Osiris. His recent activities are unrevealed.

History: Montu is a member of the earlier Ogdoad pantheon of the Egyptian pantheon. Originally revered as the god of the sun alongside Khonshu as god of the moon, he is the son of Ammon-Ra, the Chieftain of the Egyptian Gods, but some myths inexplicably claim he was adopted with Khonshu by Ammon-Ra. Montu was later eclipsed by Heru and Horus as god of the sun and was revered afterward as god of war against the armies of the undead lead by Seth, the god of death. He escaped imprisonment by Seth and was joined by Anhur, the god of the hunt to battle Seth for several years. Often seen riding Buchis, his sacred bull-mount, he and Anhur fought the gods Ares and Nergal leading the Nazis into North Africa during World War Two and later joined forces with the Asgardian gods to defend their realm of Asgard against Seth.

She is the daughter of Geb, god of sky, and Nut, goddess of earth, who ruled over Egypt from Heliopolis and retreated from Earth when they became too old and infirmed to rule. In their absence, they appointed their son, Osiris, to rule in their place, but Osiris was ousted from the throne through deceit and treachery by his brother, Seth, who slew him. From the afterlife, Osiris took Nephthys as his wife to rule over the spirits of their deceased worshippers. Seth later imprisoned Osiris and several members of the Ennead in a pyramid for several hundred until they were freed in recent years by Odin of the Asgardian Gods. Her modern day whereabouts are unrevealed.

History: Qadesh is a member of the Ennead generation of Egyptian gods who ruled Egypt from about 3800 BC to 400 AD although some sources claim she might actually be Hittite in origin and may actually be a member of the rival Anunnaki Pantheon who were worshipped by the Sumerians, Babylonians and tribes of Mesopotamia. She was taken by the funerary-god, Anubis, to be his wife and sired him the gods Upuaut and Qebehaut, but she also tired to seduce Bata, the bull-god, later claiming that she had been raped. Anubis pursued Bata as a result, even as his brother swore his innocence, stopping short of killing him before realizing he was telling the truth. Anubis eventually slew Qadesh as a result, but it is believed that Seth, god of death, has since restored her to life.

Osiris, however, was ousted from power by the deceit and treachery of his brother, Seth, who later imprisoned many of the Ennead in a pyramid for hundreds of years. It is unknown what happened to Sesmu during this time, whether she was enslaved by Seth or if she took refuge with the Olympian Gods, known allies of the Gods of Egypt. Osiris and the Egyptian gods were later freed by Odin, Ruler of the Gods of Asgard, and when his son Thor came to Celestial Heliopolis for the life energies to restore the Asgardians, Sesmu served as his guide and hostess in the court of Osiris.

History: Taweret was originally a minor goddess of the early Egyptian gods under the Ogdoad, but she became so popular that her worship survived under the Ennead. The Egyptians centered her worship rites at Karnak, where she was generally worshipped in the form of a hippopotamus because of the shape of a pregnant woman. She was revered as a goddess of childbirth and protector of children. She was also the wife of the dwarf-god, Bes, and her worship was carried far beyond Egypt by the Greeks and Romans. A statue of Taweret was found in recent years on an island northwest of Australia, but who built it has yet to be revealed.
