Precision Optical
Fabrication Technician:
Harold Johnson Optical Labs is a manufacturer of precision
optical components for industrial, medical, research,
commercial, and MIL-SPEC applications. HJOL desires to find
a dependable person to grind and shape plano optics (ie
prisms, mirrors, windows) to high tolerances usually in
small lots or batches (angles to 1 second, surface quality
10-5, etc.) from raw substrates to finished parts per
blueprint provided by customer.
Individual must possess a working knowledge of manufacturing
roof, right angle, pechan, and other types of prisms. He/she
must be able to work with all optical glasses as well as
fused silica, silicon, germanium, and CaF2.
Individual will be required to interpret customer blueprints
and specs and follow verbal directions of supervisor. He/she
will be required to operate optical machines and equipment
such as polishing machines, blanchards, saws, bevellers,
grinders, mills, etc. Heavy lifting will be necessary at
times.
Skills & Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience in
precision optical field
- Working knowledge of
micrometers, autocollimators, and interferometers
- Must be a self-starter and be
able to work well with others
- Good math and motor skills –
A MUST
- Ability to read and interpret
blueprints
- Willing to stand for long
periods
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
