Completion

Dear Diary:
I have done it! My script is complete! It took a whole hell lot too! Once I finished it, I had to e-mail it to my room for editing. Fun to explain to my editor friend at some points. Mike Allen has been my friend since high school. He’s been my editor since I started screenwriting in college. He is my order and logic in my otherwise hectic life. You know the conscience in our minds at times? That’s Mike! He’s the outsider in my insane excuse for a life. The boy grew up in a normal family, but he is attracted to insanity. (Don’t know why though. Get back to me on that one.) He even had a crush on me during our high school and college years. Mike finally told me during our junior year in college. I had to break his heart though. (After I told him I was gay, he couldn’t look at me for the rest of the year. But, we remain good friends though. I still think he has a crush on me though.)
Anyway, back to script. I felt as if I was playing fifty questions with him on the phone. The conversation went like this:
Me: Got my script?
Mike: Yeah.
Me: So, what do you think?
Mike: It’s good, but…
Me: But what?
Mike: I don’t get…
Me: What about?
Mike: All of it!
Me: *Giggles* Okay, I’ll walk you through everything.
Mike: Thanks, girl!
Me: *Deep breath* Okay, this woman comes home to visit her crazy family after so long. Nothing has really changed. It’s a situation comedy, really.
Mike: Yeah, but…
Me: But what?
Mike: You think audiences in Shanghai will get it at all? Would they even find the mother trying to run over her husband for getting his younger girlfriend pregnant funny at all?
Me: Soon-to-be-ex-husband, actually. And they’ll find it funny. Trust me. Just go with me here on this one.
Mike: Okay…
Me: Come on, it’ll work! Go with me on this!
*Slight pause*
Mike: Alright, fine, fine! I’ll go with it!
Me: Good! Anything else?
Mike: No, it looks all good from here. I just need to finish up with a couple touch-ups and off to Shanghai it goes.
Me: I hope you won’t do too much to it. I worked really hard on this for nearly a whole month that I’ve stayed with my nutsy cuckoo family!
Mike: *Laughs* Don’t worry, I won’t ruin your baby. I’m just going to fix it up some.
Me: Okay, bye!
Mike: Bye.
We hung up after that. Suddenly, my day got a whole Hell lot better. Shanghai will get my script by this afternoon and I’ll have to see from there. But right now, I need to plan may escape. Um, let’s see… It’s seven in the morning now. The boat to Kyushu doesn’t leave until ten. My stuff is already packed up. I’m bathed and dressed. I can just grab breakfast on the way out. The rest of my family’s asleep. I can make a clean escape and meet Shirley at the dock if I go now. (Yes, that’s right! Shirley and I have been dating for a whole month now. She has agreed to some back to Tokyo with me. We talked about the whole plan last night. She is willing to go with me to Tokyo. And who knows, we might a great future together all way in the end. I don’t know. But, I have a girlfriend now!!! Yay me!!!) Elements are perfect. Just need to get up and get going like right… now!
I raced all the way down the stairs and to the kitchen. I almost made it to the front door when I felt someone grabbing onto my arm. I whipped around to see my mom grabbing onto me like a little needy child. I rolled my eyes at her. Oh great! So close! But I couldn’t get away after all. Oh well, have to get her off of me to meet Shirley in time. I sighed aloud to her.
“What is it mom?” I asked her. My mom moved from my arm to my waist and squeezed onto me even tighter.
“Don’t leave me, Daryl!!!!” she cried out loud. I tried to push her off of me.
“But I have to go back home,” I told her. “I’m waiting on my script in Shanghai!”
“But you are home!!!” mom pleaded to me. “I don’t know what I’d do without you!!! Please don’t leave me!!!” I tried to push her off of me once again.
“Mom!!!” I yelled out. “Let me go!!! You did this to me the last time I visited. I have to go my home in Tokyo. My girlfriend and my career are waiting for me there! So get off of me!” I continued to push her off of me. My mom began crying like a little drama queen. I sighed out loud once again. Here it comes once again. Another dramatic “don’t leave me show!” Aw crap! I have to escape before everyone else comes out to investigate. I keep trying to push away.
Suddenly, I realized I was too late to escape. For I heard footsteps over mom’s screams and cries. I looked up and saw the rest of my family on the stairs watching us. Dad, grandma, grandpa, Rachel, Toby, and Brookey all watched me in silence.
“You’re leaving us already?” Rachel asked in slight disappointment. I sighed and rolled my eyes again. Oh great! Now mom’s done it! I’m going to be stuck in the land of confusion for a little while longer. So much for a clean get away! Way to go, mom! Way to f*****g go!
After all of the goodbyes, drama, and sappiness, I finally managed to escape from my unnaturally psychotic family. I took the taxi down to the boat station. I found my beloved Shirley waiting for me there. We embraced tightly and got onto the boat before it departed. So now, I’m sitting here on our wrapping up my month long home visit and I have my beloved Shirley sleeping with her head on my shoulder. I lightly kissed her on the forehead. One month of craziness is enough for me. Now for the rest of the four to be quiet and somewhat sane before the year is over. I hope… I swallowed hard at that one. Oh well, I still have my relationship and my script to count on, I guess. Wish me luck. See ya! Bye-bye!
