Death Be Not Proud

John Donne’s poem, “Death Be Not Proud” is an interesting poem. It basically talks about death. Donne says that death, even though feared, is not that strong. He compares it to sleep. To me, I find that creepy in a sense. Why I say that is because, one moment you’re sleeping your bed and the next you’re sleeping in a casket. But looking back on it, comparing death to sleep does make sense. Then Donne says in the end, men with sleep in death will be free. He says that there is no war, poison, or hate after we die.

I didn’t understand the poem at first. But then after looking at it closely, it just clicked in my head. Now, I agree with Donne in a sense.
