Love in the Snow
Brrr! Naoko
broke down shivering. He looked at his new surroundings. Snow. Snow as far as
the eye can see. The mouse boy was confused at first.
“Wait…” he said
to himself. “It was autumn back there. So… Is it winter now?”
“Bingo!” a
high-pitched voice spoke up. Naoko jumped and looked around.
“Down here,” the
voice said. The mouse boy looked down. A small brown rabbit looked up at him
with big black eyes.
“Welcome,” she
said with a smile. Naoko blinked at the rabbit with big eyes.
“Y-Y-Y-You’re
rabbit!” he shouted. “And you can talk!”
“Yeah,” the
rabbit said.
“So… where am
I?” the mouse boy asked.
“The Circle of
Everlasting Love,” the rabbit said.
“Is it winter?”
“Yes. Where are
you trying to go?”
“The Diamond
Tower.”
The rabbit
whistled. “Wow! This girl must be very special for you to travel this far!”
“Apparently.”
Naoko looked around at the endless snowy landscape. “Is it always snowing here?”
“Yeah.” The
bunny moved her little ears back and forth as she spoke. He little head begged
to patted. Naoko slowly knelt down and did so. The bunny broke into a little
smile.
“Mmmm,” she
said. “Is there anything you want to know?”
“Yeah, how do I
get to Diamond Tower?” Naoko asked. The bunny looked up at him, batting her
eyelashes.
“It’s not an
easy thing to get into that tower. Not many can do it and the doors rarely open
for anybody. You have to have an appointment with the lobby. Plus, that will
take you days to get there,” she said. “But, I know a little shortcut to the
entrance.” Naoko drew back his hand pressed it together with his free one.
“Please help me
get there?” he asked.
“Will you pet me
again?” the bunny asked. The mouse boy patted her on the head again. The little
rabbit’s smile widened.
“Okay, I will
help you,” she said.
“Thank you so
much!” Naoko said, bowing.
“Follow me,” the bunny said. She hopped through the snow with warm, happy feelings. The mouse boy had to run and keep up with her.
