Mars and Venus

-Gabriel-

I used to be a good woman. They took everything from me. I have been robbed, slandered, abandoned, and beaten up. Then, a savior came along. He took from me what was left of my broken soul. Now I have changed. The light no longer accepts me. I must take it from others. Yes, I must drain the light out of human beings to that I may live. I have the perfect target in mind.

-Outside-

Venus was an attractive woman on the surface. She could have any man that she wanted. Knowing this, she used them at her will just as Gabriel showed her how. However, there would be one man that would bring it all crashing down.

One night, Venus out hunting on her own. Gabriel waved her off and let her do as she pleased.

“You sure that is okay?” Venus asked her mentor.

“Yeah, yeah,” her mentor said. “Go ahead on your own.”

 “Well, what about you?”

“I’m just going to nap.” The succubus lay on the ground and went to sleep. Venus shrugged to herself.

“Okay then,” she said. Venus quietly headed out the door.

---------

She went out to a bar in downtown Rome. Venus just wanted a night out for herself. Maybe just a drink and a little dancing in the club. To be honest, she was getting tired of feeding off of the light of people and living on the road. She couldn’t remember the last time she had been alone. Venus even startled to get tired of seeing Gabriel’s face day after day. Maybe tonight, she could escape and be herself.

The club didn’t look that impressive when Venus first stepped inside. The humans danced under the flashing lights under the disco ball. She wasn’t into the music pounding from the live band. Venus rolled her eyes.

This is the best place in this pathetic town? Just kill me now. Still, Gabriel would still be sound asleep now. Maybe Venus would find something worth her while. The young girl walked up to the bar. The bartender in red smiled and winked at her.

“What can I get for you tonight?” he asked.

“I don’t care,” she said. “Surprise me.”

“Coming up,” the bartender said. Venus looked around the stuffy club and frowned. Maybe she could see if she could drink all of the bar’s contents before the night was over. However, the woman paused when she felt someone watching her. When she turned her head, she paused at the deep green eyes staring back at her. The man with long brown hair waved at her.

“Hey,” he said. Something about this man screamed danger when she first saw him. His eyes wouldn’t let her go. Escaping him was in vain. Venus could barely think of a response.

“I know I look pretty,” the man with the silver earrings said. “But if you want to do something with me, say it now.” The woman’s cheeks turned light pink.

“Oh…” she murmured. The young man finished his drink.

“I’m Mars,” he said. “And you are?”

“V-V-Venus,” she replied.

“Heh.” Mars’s thick fingers began playing with his empty glass.  “This place is lame. You want to get out of here?”

“Yes!” Venus said without a thought. She quickly cleared her throat. “I mean, if you want me to.”

“I do.”

Venus tilted her head. “But why me?”

The man in black leaned in close enough with his face within inches of hers. “You just seem that interesting.”

“Oh…” Before she knew it, Mars took Venus by the hand and led her out of the club.

---------

By sunrise, things had already begun to change. Mars lit up a cigarette in bed. Venus laid her head on his chest.

“What was all of that?” she asked. Mars glanced down at her.

“My sexual powers,” he said.

“Does such a thing exist?”

“Of course.”

She lifted her head with big eyes. “Could I have more of it?”

“You’ll have to stay by me if you want it.”

Venus’ cheeks turned bright red. “Oh…” And just like that, Gabriel was forgotten and Venus ran away with her new lover.

---------

However, this betrayal didn’t sit well with Gabriel. Having been stabbed in the back once, the succubus swore that this would never happen again. She listened in the rumors to track down her former protégé. For ten years, Gabriel came up with nothing. Apparently, Venus learned to concern her light energy like an expert. The succubus gritted her teeth.

Bitch! She had already had plans to exact her revenge. However, Gabriel didn’t realize that she had a problem developing in her body. It started with her coughing up little spots of blood. She tried to ignore it at first, but when the spots turned into big glops, it was the only first step. Her joints started to get sore when she was flying. She started losing weight and her hair started falling out. When her body started to reject the light that she tried to eat, that’s when Gabriel started to panic.

What’s happening to me?

You are dying.

The succubus lifted her head at the starry Italian sky. What?

Your life is slipping away.

That can’t be! I am immortal. Why is this happening to me? How do I stop it? I can’t die yet; I still have to get my revenge!

Instead of the answers that she wanted, the demonic breeze whispered in her ear one last time. I will take you to your protégé. I can see where she is.

Gabriel’s weak heart raced. Really? Take me to that whore now! Her body felt so light as she began floating upwards and away.

---------

Gabriel ended up floating over a small island near Greece. By now, her limbs looked like twigs and her skin was so wrinkled. She patted as she closed her eyes. This time, the succubus could sense Venus’ heart beating down below. Gabriel could see her protégé leading a happy with her husband, Mars, and their three young daughters. When the succubus opened her eyes, she gritted her teeth as rage began to rise.

“I will not let you live a happy life without me!” she shouted. With the last of her strength, Gabriel raised her arm in the arm and threw down a huge black light down towards the island. She didn’t even smile when she heard the screams in her head or see the flames. When it all went silent, Gabriel’s body decorticated into blackened dust.

That was the last time anyone would ever see of her again.
