On Your Own

This one is a poem of your own design. I kind of found this an easy poem to work with. I just ran with this poem. I used imagery and tried to avoid cliché as much as I could. The idea just came to me on a wimp. The concept is about many childhood memories all mixed up in a stoned out daze. I just compared the memories like a puzzle that had been dropped on the floor and broken apart into many pieces. The speaker is just to separate every single piece and clean the puzzle back up again. I took some of things that some of my characters’ memories and pieced them together into this very poem. I made the poem more interesting by adding more details to the memories. To help make this a better poem, I added a couple of lyrics from the Clash, as I had gotten the idea from the song, “Bankrobber.” I even threw in some pop culture references to add more to a story with this poem. My favorite line is “Run Rabbit Run.” It comes from a couple of old songs that I completely adore. I just thought it fit into the poem rather nicely. Even more so when I made it into a quote and just an actual line.

After I cleaned up the poem some, it looked a little bit better. I still think that I could have done poem with it.
