The Importance of Being Earnest Play Review

On Tuesday night, mom and I went to see the play “The Importance of Being Earnest”. It was almost like the book only they added some lines and took some out. They took out the part where Lady Bracknell was talking about a French tailor for Cecily. I liked the acting.

My favorite character in the play had to be Lady Bracknell. A man played her in this play and it was obvious in the voice. He did such a great job with the role it was funny. To me, the role of Lady Bracknell should only be played by men. It wouldn’t look right if a woman played that role. Cecily did a good job too. She played her role perfectly. I couldn’t stand Gwendolen’s voice though. But she did a decent job with her role as well/ Jack looked like Toby McGuire and Algernon liked like Jack from the show “Will and Grace”. The backdrops were great too.

To me it is better to see the play than to read it yourself, for you get a better view on how the acting is suppose to be. Over all the play was a success and I would love to see it again.
