Sweet October

Shona

I took care of my fallen soldier day and night. Over time, I have noticed that my patient was a lovely boy. His hair was black and cut short like a young boy’s. His deep olive tan skin glowed in the sun. His cuts and bandages gave him a rugged look to him. His face was perfect. It was a mix of a boy and a man’s. He was a beautiful thing.

I envied Mina for seeing him naked first. I wanted to do that. Oh, well. There will be plenty of time for that later when he fully recovers. Gag! What am I thinking? He probably has a girlfriend or fiancée already! I’m lusting after taken property in a sense! It was so wrong! I envied the lady he was hitched to and guiltily wished death on her.

Then his gasp of pain returned me to Earth. The after-effects of the snakebite were returning again. I began to move quickly. I took out the remaining of my rootworm-aloe mix and poured it on the bite. Then I took a warm damp cloth and placed it over the wound. I pressed down hard on the soldier’s leg. I did this practically every single day. At first, it took hours. Then, soon the pain lessened.

Finally, my young handsome soldier calmed down and fell back into his usual dormant state. I relaxed and let go of his leg. I watched my soldier sleep. He looked so peaceful. He had lit a playful fire in my heart. I couldn’t wait until he awoke and saw me. Hell, I bet his girl’s got nothing on me!

Damn! There I go again! Men! They will rob you of your sanity. I needed to something to do. Then I remembered I had to go and collect more rootworm. Yes, that was it. More rootworm. My patient would be inn pain again and I needed to be ready. I leaned in close to my out cold soldier. “I’ll be right back.” I whispered to him. Then I picked up my bucket and headed out of the room.

7:00 p.m.

I returned to my out cold soldier. He still slept peacefully. I became restless now. I wanted him to wake up now. Well, I’d get my wish pretty quickly.

I was getting fresh bandages when I heard groaning. At first, I thought it was another snakebite after affect. But when I turned to him with the rootworm-aloe juice in hand, I noticed that he was coming to. I set my flask aside and huddle over my soldier.

He slowly opened his eyes. His eyes were a rusty brown. The hunt was now on. His eyes had now snared my heart. Screw his lady; I just had to have him!

Soldier

I slowly regained consciousness. I opened my eyes to see… my angel. I had dreamed about her since the war first began. She was just as I remembered. Long stringy blackish brown hair to the high-part of her back, soft fringe on her forehead, light olive tan skin, deep aquamarine eyes that were brighter than the stars, slender nose, soft pillow lips, rose petal cheeks, plump boobs, and a small waist. She was my angel, only she was real.

“Am I in heaven?” I asked in a weak voice. My angel just tittered at me. “Not particularly.” she answered. “Where am I?” I asked. “In an infirmary.” she replied. “I found you near the river in the woods days ago.” I lied there in lost. “You… saved… me?” I asked. She just nodded. I didn’t know what to think. Here I was, still alive with my angel kneeling over me. She saved me from the hands of a cold death.

I let my eyes travel lower. Her breasts were full and squeezable. They looked trapped in her white v-cut shirt. I wanted to grab them but was too weak to do so.

Then, I screamed out in pain. My angel became worried. “Hold on, don’t move.” she called. Then she picked up a flask with greenish gold liquid in it and poured it on my snakebite wound. I winced in pain. This stuff was worse than the Pit Cobra that bit me while we were in battle in the woods. “SHIT! What the hell is that stuff?!?” I screamed. My angel lightly quieted me. “It’s aloe and rootworm.” she said quickly. Then she put a warm damp cloth on my leg and pressed down.

My body broke out in chills and sweat. I felt as if I was in hell. The pain was unbearable. This is what led my comrades to leave me to die by the river. They didn’t think I would pull through this time, so they abandoned me to face death alone.

Finally, the pain went away and I lie back panting. The angel let go over my leg and sat back. She looked at me with those crystal sapphire eyes with relief. I lied still and caught my breath. “What is your name?” she asked my when I felt better. “Mandras.” I answered. My angel had a sweet smile.

That was enough to send me into bliss. My angel was much perfect in real life. I finally had a face to her. If only she had a name!

“Shona!!!” we heard someone call out. “Coming, Noiz!” my angel called. Then she rose to her feet, turned to me and said; “I’ll see you tomorrow.” Then my angel left me again.

Shona. What a perfect name for an angel! Oh, sweet virgin! I have been blessed with an angel. I now have a reason to live again!
