Fighting skills
I have practised aikido and karate, so I know many people who are interested in fighting skills as their hobby. But only three of them, whom I know only very distantly, one could classify as having figthing skills as their strenght: one former top athlete in combat karate (a woman), one man who was studying to become a professional soldier and one man who was a top level competition judo practitioner. All of them had a strong contact with life in the living. They were not having any mental unbalance of aggressive contact with all but were with a healthy kind of social life with feelings and compassion even though they had some aggressive quality in reserve too. They knew how to take room to their lives. So they wre not pusked to a constant fight with their environment, like many of those with a smaller caliber and an interest in fighting are. So watching these three from afar I would say that healthy ways of living and healthy kind of social and emotional life are what success in fighting is based on.
