The Founding of a Family must be done with a prepotent, foundation bird, that is what I have in Black Rain. In 2009 the first year for his grandkids to be flown, one youngster off a hen from Black Rain should have won the GOLD COUNTRY ONE LOFT RACE in California for Silver Magallanes, she was 2 minutes in front, but a hawk scared her off the board and she ended up in 7th position. Another bred from a Black Rain daughter should have won the OCR Futurity in Ohio, but ended up 3rd after she came early and the handler did not have the clock in the loft, and had to go to the house to get the clock, the handler does not move fast due to his age and the bird lost by 3 minutes, estimated that the bird was in the loft for 4-5 minutes by the time the clock was finally retrieved and taken to the loft. Not a bad showing for their first year out there!!

In 2012 the luck really started changing, with a win for Baker & Sons in the Central Ohio Combine, their first Combine win ever with a granddaughter of Black Rain, bred by PDQ Racing Lofts!! Then in the fall a 1st Place Win at the Plymouth Peak Challenge One Loft Race final 300 mile race for Steve Cramer and the "Lunch Bunch", undoubtedly the toughest race course in the USA!! This was a grandson of Black Rain & Black Rose!!
