ABOUT THE CREATOR
  
Hello! My name is Pat McLean-Smith, creator of Tomorrow’s Girls Crochet Dolls. I am an avid creator of many things, but crocheting is by far one of my favorite. I taught myself at a very young age how to make blankets and booties. However, a few years ago I realized that I wanted to try something new.
Then one evening, while surfing the net I saw amigurumi dolls for the first time. It was love at first sight and a passion was born.
I am a free style crocheter (meaning I do not use patterns:-), so I watched numerous tutorials, and – I finally made my own doll! Now I literally spend every free minute with yarn and hooks bringing these beauties to life.
I've been making dolls for more than two years now and have come to believe that dolls serve as representations and reminders of the best part of ourselves. They help us to reinforce positive images and engage women and young girls in dialogue about their hair, their skin and their own since of style. Dolls reflect a person’s cultural heritage and give a sense of identity and pride, which is why I wanted my dolls to be more than just toys, I wanted them to be a reflection of who we are.
I have also mentored young girls for the past 15 years, and realized how I could combine doing two things that I love, creating and mentoring. Profits from the sell of the dolls could be used to help fund the mentoring program and the Tomorrow's Girls Crochet Doll line was born
