Bob Hubbard was given his first drumset at the age of 4 and has not considered setting down the sticks since. Hubbard is a well seasoned musician who is well versed in the many different languages used in Jazz. From Swing, Bop, Hard bop, Post-Bop, Afro-Cuban to Free he has studied hard over the years and has performed these styles with many different ensembles and Jazz groups from and not limited to his own band in the southwest, Kuwahara to modern Free Jazz legends William Parker, Steve Swell, Jemeel Moondoc and fellow friend and percussionist Hamid Drake.
Since May of 2005 Bob has performed with local Jazz/funk Hammond B-3 trio, The Devin Garramone Band with Devin Garramone and Jeff Palmer.
Hubbard derives much of his inspiration not from other drummers but from the music of John Coltrane , he focuses of reaching for new ways to push the rhythm to energize the band and listener alike, he believes Jazz should never be a passive listening experience.
Finally, Bob Hubbard has been referred to as the quintessential Jazz drummer, complete with original contraption and improvisation. Bob is willing to play with any creative Jazz musician anywhere or anytime.
