Daily Water Quality Monitoring Log
Instruction Sheet
# EXPLANATION
1. Write in care center name (E= xample: RAI - Secret Ravine)
2. Write in current month
3. Write in current year
4. Write in today's date (Examp= le: 4/12)
5. This row lists Locations for= each question
6. Make sure the RO is running = then record the water temperature as shown on the temperature
gauge labeled T. The water temperature should be between 70° - 80°. If it is not in range, adjust
the mixing valve slowly to get the correct temperature. If still unable to achieve the correct
temperature, call B.E.S.T.
7. Check = ALL pretreatment timer heads to be certain that the time is correct. If any of the times are
not correct adjust the timer= to the correct time of day paying particular attention to AM and PM
values. Mark this cell Yes.
8. Check the Brine Tank to make= sure that there is enough salt so that no water is visible. If water is
visible, add more salt until= you can no longer see water. Mark this cell Yes.
9. Take a morning hardness samp= le from sample port SP2 and write your findings here. Hardness
should be less than 1. If gr= eater than 1 you can still run patients but you should contact B.E.S= .T.
at your next most convenient opportunity.
11. Write the RO Prefilter delta pressure here. This pressure is determined by subtracting the post
prefilter pressure from the = pre prefilter pressure. (Example: Pre prefilter pressure =3D 25 and Post
prefilter pressure =3D 15. 2= 5 - 15 =3D 10. Your delta pressure is 10. Delta pressures should not be
greater than 15. If your del= ta pressure is greater than 15 you can still run patie= nts but you should
contact B.E.S.T. at your nex= t most convenient opportunity.
12. The answer to this question = should always be Yes. The RO = should be running (not just on) when
you take your water checks.<= /td>
13. When the RO is running prope= rly, valve G2 (the RO bypass valve) should be in the closed position
14. The answer to this question = is only yes if the RO is running AND DI tanks are being used at the
same time. Otherwise, write = No.
15. The answer to this question = is only yes if the RO is NOT r= unning and DI tanks are being used in
its place.
16. There should be a sticker on= the DI tanks with the date when they were delivered. Write this date
here.
17. The DI Quality Meter has a test button on it. You need to push the button in until the red light
comes on. This test needs to= be done when another person is on the floor and can listen for the
remote alarm when the test b= utton is pressed. If the person on the floor does not hear the alarm
alert B.E.S.T.
18. The UV Light monitor has two green lights. Both green lights should be on. If= one or both lights
are off alert B.E.S.T.
19. Subtract pressure gauge read= ing G9 from pressure gauge reading G8 to find the delta pressure.
(Example: G8 =3D 60 and G9 = =3D 55. Then 60 - 55 =3D 5 delta pressure) If the delta pressure is greater
than 15 then alert B.E.S.T.<= /td>
21. Find the Permeate Flow Rate = on the RO (while it's running) and record the number here.
23. Find the Concentrate Flow Ra= te on the RO (while it's running) and record the number here.
25. Using the TDS meter, take a = water sample from sample port SP4 and record reading here.
27. Find the Conductivity readin= g on the RO (while it's running) and record the number here.
28. Fine the % Rejection reading on the RO (while it's running) and record the num= ber here. The
number should be greater tha= n 90%. If it is lower than 90% alert B.E.S.T.
30. Find gauge G10 and record the pressure here.
31. Record the number shown on t= he Final Water Quality Meter here. The number should be less than
60. If the number is greater= than 60 stop treatments and immediately alert B.E.S.T.
32. The Water Quality Meter has a test button on it. You need to push the button = in until the red light
comes on. This test needs to= be done when another person is on the floor and can listen for the
remote alarm when the test b= utton is pressed. If the person on the floor does not hear the alarm
alert B.E.S.T.
54. Take an afternoon hardness s= ample from sample port SP2 and write your findings here. Hardness
should be less than 1. If gr= eater than 1 you can still run patients but you should contact B.E.S= .T.
at your next most convenient opportunity.
55. Write your initials here and then sign your name in one of the signature spaces provide below.
You need sign the sheet only= once but should initial this area everyday you do the water checks.
57. The charge nurse should revi= ew the water checks and then initial in this area. The charge nurse
must also sign in one of the signature spaces provided.
58. This is the signature area. = Anyone doing water checks or the charge nurse who confirms the
water checks needs to sign i= n one of the spaces provided.
59. The person in charge of CQI = for this form needs to sign here after the checks have been reviewed.
60. The person in charge of CQI = for this form needs to write in the date when the sheet was reviewed.
61. This space is for recording = any problems that were found. Write in the date and time the problem
was noticed, what the problem was, who was contacted, and what was done. Then initial and
date it.
