Lepke was probably America's most famous Jewish gangster. In the 1920's, Louis Buchalter has a two-fisted grip on power, controlling major trade uninons of New York City as well as the most significat Jewish Mafia (jokingly called the "Kosher Nostra"). Under Lepke's command, the highly effective Murder, Inc. was formerd.
Murder, Inc, or The Combination, was a supergroup of hitmen that would travel across the country offering their services. Lepke was their most frequent client, using the talents of famous hitmen such as Meyer "Buggsy" Goldstein, Frank "Dasher" Abbandando and Abe "Kid Twist" Reles for over 100 mob-relater murders, so of which he ordered while in prison. Louis "Lepke" Buchalter was the only kingpin to be executed for his crimes in U.S. history. He died in the electric chair in 1944.
