Topic: New Tab Postings
In 1986, when Platinum Blonde released their Christmas-themed single "Father Christmas"/"Père Noël," the band was at the height of its success. The single's release came after the band had scored two consecutive multi-platinum albums in Canada with Standing In the Dark (1984) and Alien Shores (1985).
"Father Christmas"/"Père Noël" was released as a double A-side 45 record (with picture sleeve.) On one side the song was performed with English lyrics and on the other side it was sung in French. Both sets of lyrics are included in this tab. Lead singer Mark Holmes wrote the song for his son, reflecting his feelings during the band's heavy touring years. Borrowing from the song's English lyrics, the dedication on the back cover reads: "Dedicated to Justin, for all the days."
A Christmas song by a Canadian band, recorded in both of Canada's official languages, seemed like a good one to tab for Christmas of Canada's 150th year. The song didn't appear on any of Platinum Blonde's albums, including "best of" compilations. Both versions of the song can be heard at the links below.
