Cell Membrane

The cell membrane is also called the plasma membrane. It is at the boundary of the cell. The cell membrane functions as a selective barrier to the passage of ions and molecules. It has 2 lipid layers, a surface, and embedded proteins with attached carbohydrates. Below are a few pictures of the stucture of the cell membrane.
