Lysosomes

Lysosomes are formed by budding from the golgi apparatus. They fuse with vesicles containing food particles that were ingested by the cell. Lysosomes store digestive enzymes that break down food and recycle old cell parts. They are found thoughout the cell. The general structure of a lysosome is shown in the first picture, and a view of lysosomes under a microscope are in the photo.
