Mitochondrion

The mitochondrion is the power house of the cell. It produces energy from food, and without it there would be no way to power any of the other organelles. Mitochondrions are jelly bean shaped with a double membrane. The inside membrane is folded. The mitochondrion uses cellular respiration- a process in which it burns sugar for fuel. The first picture shows the membranes of the mitochondrion and the second is a picture of what a mitochondrion looks like under a microscope.
