The Turnlongs.
Known for cold rage, pride, and absolute loyalty to Rowan. In fact, their motto is "Debe Liraric asoldemi'r aynda," or "loyalty to Rowan is like starlight"- proud, pure, beautiful, and the highest good.
Their founder was the Lord Arbleron, a son of a Deerfriend mother and an undistinguished father. He survived the razing of Rowan by the silverini that saw his parents dead, the souls of his sister and liege lord stolen, his wife betraying him and fleeing with their daughter, and the loss of everything that he had loved. Most Elwens' sanity (and especially the sanity of a land Elwen whose emotions burn so hot) would have shattered under the blow. But it is said that the Lord Arbleron's heart froze and then shattered. He remained sane, pledging himself as Killsworn, one of a band of warriors who attacked the silver unicorns without defending themselves and usually lived no more than three to five years. He lived for more than a thousand years after this, attacking the unicorns as their greatest bane; they called him Silverflame for the way his killblade burned. He never had any other children, though; in fact, since he vanished in the north soon after the spectacular rescue of the Falchian Plains from the silverini by their Lord Denya , none know the truth about what happened to him, or when he truly died. However, the line became high blood by his actions, and descended from Denion, his daughter by his traitor wife Rohera, afterwards.
The Turnlongs were the only great line of Rowan never enslaved by the silver unicorns; they remained free throughout the long years of the Empire, stealing children before their wills could be broken and raising them as freedom fighters in the sanctuaries of the underground Elwens. When the Empire's grip was broken by Maruss Freewind , they returned to Rowan in triumph.
Their Lord Haasinon, some generations later, became an advisor to the Lady Eleriad and one of that Councilmaster's staunchest supporters. He married late in life, to a woman hardly less accomplished than he- the Lady Anadrel, briefly Councilmaster of Palm and the last known Starseeker, one of the three great leaders against the elves in the Elfworld War , second only to Eleriad herself.
Anadrel's and Haasinon's grandson, Herran Turnlong, is the glory of the Third Era- the greatest Councilmaster in Elwen memory, the ender of slavery, the settler of treaties, the tamer of torture, and a lord of the high blood to be envied. Long may he reign.
