The Starseeker Trilogy (Aug.- Nov. 1998)

These stories are near and dear to my heart. I started out unsure of the idea in Starchaser or if it would work, but it did, and well. I wrote the book from the viewpoints of two different characters, Elian and Anadrel- yes, that is where I take my name from- who fell slowly in love.

At least, that was the plan.

I won't ruin the story for you by saying much more, but I will say that these books surprised even me, both by the unusual twists that developed in what was supposed to be a relatively straightforward and simple story, and by the depth and passion of the characters I created. Though I took my name from Anadrel, I grew to love Elian dearly. He's a character caught between honor and duty, and the story's in large part about the pain that conflict brings him. He's not exactly a typical land Elwen- Anadrel is more that- and I think he turned out well anyway.

Not that I don't love Anadrel too. It's just that Elian managed to make off with my heart deeply and thoroughly, as I hope he makes off with yours in those excerpts. Enjoy! (All prologues and chapters linked off this page copyright 1998-2003 by Anadrel).

Starchaser- Starseekers, on whom some Elwen cities have come to depend for preservation of the past and healing, are dying, and no one seems to know by. Elian Alian, the last known Starseeker, is sent back in time to research the apparent absence of Starseeker gifts, but something goes wrong and he gets flung much, much further back than anyone intended. Meanwhile, a young Starseeker named Anadrel Cytheriao sets out on a quest for something a shadow told her would keep her from having to become the Deriad, the leader of the Starseekers.

Starseeker- Elian has remained in the past, and played a large part in derailing the first attack of the Coramamira War. But now the three great land Elwen cities of the Tableland are making an uneasy alliance, and Pixaor has asked him to become an ambassador to Oak, the city of Suulta. Elian undertakes the journey in the company of a fuming Anadrel, not knowing what awaits him in Oak.

Starchosen- Destinies await- or something of the kind. Elian and Anadrel return to Oak amid a blizzard of speculation: Anadrel on the brink of a sudden rise in political power, Elian with magical power burning in his blood for some unknown reason. And neither Anadrel's rise nor Elian's growth of power will stop until they have achieved what they must achieve...
