Rowan, city of silver. (Actually, sonor, a metal like silver save that it cracks instead of tarnishes with age and doesn't conduct electricity as well. -Q.S.) Home of more than twenty-one million people, most of them land Elwen. (Actually not until the end of the Third Era, and more than ninety-five percent land Elwen. -Q.S.). The greatest city in the world during the Third Era, home of the inventors of the cure for the Dying, a way of creating animals and intelligent races, starflight, and a way of freeing the continent from slavery without going to war. (We lost all of those inventions, actually. -Q.S.). Home of birth and bane, beautiful magic and blood magic, triumphal processions and triumphant tortures, abolitionists and psychic assaulters. (That's actually about right. -Q.S.)
