HOW MANY KIDS DO YOU WANT?

“How many kids do you want?”
He whispered in her ear
His lips having just been on her neck.
she felt…
she felt…
like her ovaries were wet with desire.
Like she wanted to answer with “however many you want.”
She was feeling something she had never felt before.
She had been aroused, before,
Had been wet, before,
But never like this.
She felt a warmth at her ovaries.
She had never thought about having kids.
But now, with his lips having tasted her neck,
she wanted two, maybe three.
Perhaps she should tell him, so they could stop after that amount of kids,
before having too many.
But that wasn’t the most immediate thought on her mind.
Hers was one of hunger, desire, instinct,
She wanted to move towards making those kids,
Right now.
Right now.
They could start counting them as they came out
She wanted to start making them, right now.
right now.

Copyright © 2024 Ashi Shadow 1/26/24 - Started as a daytime daydream on Kathlin,
a daydream about after going line dancing, daydreaming of her and me in parking lot with me kissing her neck. It led to imagining the same type of scene with her and a fictional man (“boyfriend”) in the future. Then, led to imagining a woman that was not her, for most of the poem.
Note: She actually skipped the line dancing event, but the poem was inspired while I was on the way there, so perhaps that alone was worth it that I went, and I did also get to see some of the group there.
There was originally a line break between “so they could stop / after that”, but the line break was too confusing so was removed. The word “amount” was also added to avoid confusion. The “however many you want” would be more literally written as “as many as you want.”
