I walk on the clouds but I sleep in a dungeon with no running water and no electricity. Without your love, life and I are empty. When people talk to me at home they find they are talking to a fish or to an alligator. Does it matter whether one is a pacifist or one is irascible when one forms no connections? Sometimes I climb beneath my dungeon to swing around above the abyss, a place where only those who have lost the will to live can go. But then I come back up and walk on the clouds flashing my pearly whites. |

Fish is disengaged.
Alligator is irascible.
No connections means emotional connections.
Walking on clouds is being successful living an enviable life.
Last line is the normal metaphor of a smile.
Swinging around above the abyss is an imagery of hanging by one hand and swinging around above the wide abyss.
"The Abyss" is probably not the best title for this poem, but will suffice for now.
Date is actually approximate.
It was probably at least a month or two earlier than listed.
Considered adding the word "again" as an additional line to decrease the abruptness of the poem's ending, but I felt that made it too sad.
