A rose is just a rose. |
When a man gives a rose to a woman, |
a rose is still just a rose. |
But when I give this rose to you, |
it is something more. |
|
For this rose is my child. |
I have planted it in the ground |
with my own two hands |
I have watered it every day |
and pruned it |
and warded away those that would harm it. |
|
For this rose has my love, |
I have sprinkled honey around it as it grew |
and kissed it every single day |
and warmed it with my breath |
when the days grew cold. |
|
But now I give this rose to you, |
and in doing so |
I am giving you my child, |
and I am giving you my love. |
|
This rose, is not just a rose. |
