...AND THEN SAY THOSE WORDS TO ME, AND EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THEM.

You throw the word 'love' around
like candy and trinkets,
and then say those words to me,
and expect me to believe them.

But then,
you stay home from work
just to be with me,
when I'm crying,-
and I have to wonder,
if maybe, you mean those words
to me.

Throw the word "love" around refers to saying love to so many different people.
On me, from the view of another person (Ashlee). The staying home was just an example I thought of to show the right sentiment.
"when you shouldn't," was a line after "stay home from work" in one of the versions. BUt not the original, this is the original, I liked it best.
