I think it captures her essence well enough.
Considered glimmer instead of glimmering.
What it means is that although she pierces people with her abrasive lack of regard, she does not do so with a life lived in disgust, rather, she does so while living with enthusiasm for following her heart (though she might say following her will or something like that).
