CELLOPHANE WALLS

People live inside their monochromated lives
looking out of curtailing boxes that they can't perceive.
A fragment of the-whole of what is life
like a shadow-puppet-version that is actually a dream.

A brave soul in a fit of lucidity might see the seams, on occasion,
and approach the walls to pull back a corner of the cellophane.
Only then can they see and gaze with wonderment
upon the bounteous acres of trees, grass, and cerulean open space.

They learn that the factory of life which they were given a role in
was but one of many possible roles -
for freedom loped outside without bounds
and had always been there for them to join.

They could put down their pen and sewing needle
for a taste at the reins of a crisper destiny
but could not take others with them
unless they could convince them of what is outside.
