She walked down the street as a small child being picked on and greedily held on to her dreams. She was the only one who looked like her, in her school. A few of the students would grab her backpack and tug on it, as she walked by,    then would laugh and let go. But she greedily held on to her dreams. As she grew older, other students would hit her -- not hard enough to harm her, just enough to hurt her,    in her heart. But she greedily held on to her dreams. In time, she would find ways to excel without minding -- except when nobody was looking, but herself. But she greedily held on to her dreams. She graduated from high school, went to college, breezed through a few friends and a few kisses with young men. She returned to her town, married, a few years after college, with a medical degree and a business loan. She started a practice to help people of a less wealthy neighborhood and received accolades in bushels. But she wasn't really doing it for others, she was doing it for herself. As before, she was greedily holding on to her dreams. |

Clearly partly autobiographical.
Inspired by the word "Greedily" used in a similar metaphor in the show One Piece (Episode 937 or so).
