I KNOW THAT YOU LOVE ME

I know that you love me,
that you count the stars
like my heartbeats
Waiting beneath forlorn nights
and humid gray rains
for me to emerge from
around the bends
up the dirt road
and over the puddles
with drenched boots
to kiss you
deeply.

Initially had "only" before "to kiss you".
The poem only started as the first three lines.
Then I tried to fill in the rest with the mood.
It was inspired by "To Win Your Love" by Dominique Pruitt, and particularly the line "I know you don't realize...
How much you love me too " It's about the idea that there is a fictional someone-out-there dreaming of the author ('me') as the love of their dreams.
