THE INCITER

Yes, it's true,
his artistry is crude
his delivery dramatic,
His poems won’t grace
library shelves
with the same elegance
as the greats,
and his poetry will not likely
stay a hundred years
without fading in how well it’s known.
But there are two kinds
of poets,
those who study and perfect
the artistry,
and those who speak for and inspire
the masses whom they speak to.

Studying the physics of
   bullets flying down
    the barrel of a gun
    is useful,
but riling up an army
   that wields them
   makes history,
   in the real world;
while the artist makes history
   in the books.

The inciter's impact on
    poetry may not be
    as long lasting,
But the inciter’s impact on
real world history
will be equally long.
