INJUST

I have seen the moribund soldier
placing flowers at their grave,
because they knew that when dawn came
they would not see another day

and I have seen the unfed puppy
waggling its tail,
delighted at being petted
unaware of its unfair luck

the frailty of humanity
and the fragility of their smiles
the beauty of their souls
on the face of their soul's guise

8/28/05 their soul's guise is what we see. Their physicality, their actions, what they actually are - their misguided existence. The innocent look of the face of a simple good person. What a beautiful reflection of what metaphysical being they are. And so misguided. So _un_guided.
Imperfect title. Couldn't think of the perfect one.
