KISS ME IN THE POURING RAIN

"Kiss me in the pouring rain,"
When you walk by,
my heart beats quietly.

"Can she hear me?"
it asks shyly,
like the grasshopper wingbeats
of its fluttering
might somehow make it
to her ears
and offend her.

"I hope so,"
I say in my
heart of hearts.

Inspired by "Sparks Fly" by Taylor Swift.
The "you" to "she" shift was not intentional, but was the way the thoughts were when I wrote it because the first stanza was soliloquy and the 2nd was to the audience.
But I did not decide which one to keep in the end, so left it.
Maybe I could keep it like this if it was being read out loud, but I think it will confuse people reading it on paper.
