LIKE A RAINDROP ON YOUR WINDSHIELD

Like a raindrop on your windshield
I got a brief glimpse into your life.
Your smiling face,
Your eyes looking at me occasionally
and holding.
Your laughter.
But then you moved to the West Coast
where it was raining men.
You turned on your wipers
and swept me into the gutters
like so many of my tears.

The poem has the word gutters because it's strong.
The original version was "and swept me into the ditches/by the side of the road/like so many of my tears."
The moving to the West Coast is a metaphor for breaking up (she hasn't left).
The men are to emphasize the feelings I am feeling from her not wanting me or valuing me.
