LOVE, LOOK (RIVER)

Love,
look at how the river clasps the land,
following its lay until the foot of the mountain,
and never letting go.
So I will be with you.

And when the river lets go of the land, to fall,
it is only to clasp the land harder yet again,
and so I will be with you.

So let me kiss your feet,
as the river kisses the silt beneath,
and let your dirt
be the air I breathe.

inspired by Evening Song by Sidney Lanier. Liked his shore and beach, and considered using clasp instead, but decided to apply the clasp to a river.
* considered moving last line of 1st Stanza to first line of 2nd Stanza, it reads differently, and emphasizes first Stanza more, but I decided it makes the second stanza too weak.
