there was a man with a golden kiss
his kiss could fix anything
it fixed the broken hearts of six girls
the seams of an old baseball glove
the doorframe of a neighbor's laundry room.
It wasn't until he started fixing things
for other men's wives
that he got into trouble.
He fixed things for a woman
whose husband could not help her conceive
and another
who could not get out of depression.
The next time he helped a married woman
with one of his golden kisses,
he took away the pain from her hand
and she won a baking contest,
but the married men from the town
took him outside of town
and lynched him.
