I saw the pinks and bruises of the sunrise, and was reminded of you even though you danced the two step on my heart and in my arms my heart still has its arms wrapped around the memory of you and does not have room for any other woman. Was it so wrong to fall in love with you? If not, then why am I being punished so hard for it? How much penance must I pay for falling in love with you? |

For the line "If not, then why am I being punished so hard for it?"
I also considered "If not, then why am I being so punished for it?" or "still punished for it."
I have not figured out how the punctuation should be in the early part of the poem.
