THERE IS POETRY (EVERYWHERE)

When somebody tells you that they are sad,
beyond an hour, a day, or a year.
Tell them that the sun will always rise
and that they have a freedom that no walls can contain,
except, if they allow it, those made by their own pain.

Tell them that there is poetry everywhere.

That there is poetry in the wind,
and if you watch the leaves,
you can see that they hear it,
and dance to it.

That there is poetry in the middle of the night,
and that if they stay up to watch,
they will see that the stars hear it,
and dance to it.

That there is poetry in the sunrise,
and that if they get up to look at it,
they will see that the clouds hear it,
and they dance to it.

And that there is poetry in their soul,
and that if they close their eyes,
and listen to it,
they will see that their heart hears it,
and dances to it.

Considered taking out the "they" in the 2nd last stanza, but I like the break in the monotony.
Originally, 'middle of the night' was 'midnight'
