TO HELL FOR YOU

The clouds part and the sun is shining,
but I still can't stop thinking about you.
My science be damned and my grades go to hell.
I don't really care about what happens to the rest of the world,
all I care about is that I want to be with you.

And I'll raise my sword to the gates of hell
and charge on through without ever looking back,
until I've been blown about by the Winds of Lust 2
and run by Cerberus and falling snow dust 3
and pushed my way past the Weights of Greed 4
and made my way to the second ferry 4
And rowed across the river Styx 5
and fought my way through the City of Dis 6
and joined the ranks of the Heretics 6
only to cross above the Souls of Violence 7
To encounter the demons that brandish their whips 8
upon those of fraud and those of malice, 8
and there beneath their decadent well
I'll make my way to the heart of hell 9
until the sight that rests before mine eyes
is the very incarnation of the Prince of Lies 9
and I'll slice his wings and I'll pierce his chest
and I'll bring him suffering to no expense,
until he chokes and yields from his very own blood
to undo your chains and to give you up,
to let you go from the level Limbo
to the world of Earth and into the sunshine
where once again I can wear your ring and you can wear mine.

I won't make the errs of Icarus and Faust.
I'll abandon ambition before all is lost.

12/7/03 on Katie So... the 1st part's me, the 2nd part is a huge allusion to Dante's inferno. The first level is Limbo, the numbers on the right correspond to the levels of Hell where these things are found. (there are also sinners found in each level but I didn't mention them all).

Icarus and faust... so Icarus tried to fly too high on wings of wax (he tried to fly to the sun) and his wings melted and he fell (to his Death if I'm not mistaken, I wrote a LONG entry on him a long time back). And Faust... is the famous play which has the line "Is this the face that launched a thousand ships" on Helen of Troy. It's about a man (who's essentially a scientist) that sells his soul to the Devil to be able to do anything he wants (pretty much). So... it's... a beautiful story if you ask me and is my favorite play. But not everybody likes it. Nobody seems to like it as much as me. Which is good, it makes me feel special;)
