THE VILLAIN

Perhaps I'm the villain,
curdled by your proclamations
of my stupidity.
If that is the uniform of a villain;
to be derided undeservedly,
I will wear it proudly.

But I will go on to deride Dickenson mercilessly,
that she may only choose to wear
the uniform with false colors,
should she choose to.

While I,
return to my villain's bed-
cold, alone, and dark
   in my bedroom.

"Dickenson" is Emily Dickenson.
I think she's a crappy poet.
She wrote about 2000 poems,
but only about 3 that were good.
Go ahead, call me stupid.
I will wear the uniform with pride.
--> on an argument with Heaven. She was defending Dickenson because some of her friends like her, claimed good poetry was subjective and that it was hurtful to say that about Dickenson when somebody else might like her. Note: the only 3 were good is an exaggeration, she wrote more than 3 good poems.
