With your love gone,
What am I but a small wooden boat adrift in a large ocean with the waves lapping at my hull. No way seems to be North, as all I can see are small white crests, dotting the waters to the horizon. The gentle roar of the wind and ocean's spray are the companions I have with me in this vast and isotropic frontier. |

(To consider: knock out the word "as" and put the word "only" before companions?)
