Palace of The Dark
A teenager sits in the place of the dark
A room full of dreams for the hunger in her heart
As innocence plays with the popcorn on her lap
She silently screams in desire and delight
For there on the screen are the lovers of her life
A prince with his charm and a pirate with his blade
The princess they love is no other but herself
Protected from harm by the treasures of their hand
They honor her throne like a goddess in the myths
And carry the blame when her wishes go awry
Then vanish from sight when the title is the end
A fervor of flame puts a twinkle on a tear
As images thrill the theater of the mind
With grandiose dreams she emerges from the room
Convinced that her need is what nature had conceived
Entitled to schemes that enamor for a throne
Then boys will pretend they're the heroes in the act
So no one can know that they aren't that at all
When bored and alone with the feeling of it's doubt
She'll go to the show in the palace of the dark
