NFL 3-inch Figures in the news:
SEPT. 9
COLTS AT PATRIOTS
• It's hard to top a repeat of the AFC Championship Game, but the NFL decided to open the season with what figures to be one of the best games of the regular season.
SEPT. 19
PANTHERS AT CHIEFS
• The matchup to watch within the game will be the Panthers' defensive line, featuring Mike Rucker and Julius Peppers, against the great Chiefs line, featuring Will Shields and Willie Roaf.
SEPT. 27
COWBOYS AT REDSKINS
• It's retro night in the nation's capital with Bill Parcells facing Joe Gibbs. Between them, there are seven Super Bowl appearances and five championship rings, so nerves won't be a big issue.
OCT. 3
BRONCOS AT BUCCANEERS
• Both teams are undergoing a makeover. Former Bucs great SS John Lynch, now with Denver, also returns in what should be an emotional moment.
OCT. 11
TITANS AT GREEN BAY
• Steve McNair of the Titans and Green Bay great Brett Favre are probably two of the five greatest improvisational quarterbacks in NFL history.
OCT. 17
BENGALS AT BROWNS
• Which was more of a fluke last season, Cincinnati's climb to 8-8 and playoff contention or Cleveland's disgraceful defense and underachieving ways?
OCT. 24
RAMS AT DOLPHINS
• In 2001, the Rams waxed the Dolphins in St. Louis. If the Dolphins are going to be contenders, they have to show something here.
OCT. 31
RAVENS AT EAGLES
• Is there really lingering hatred between Ravens star LB Ray Lewis and Eagles WR Terrell Owens, who stood up the Ravens this offseason? We shall see.
NOV. 8 NFL 3-inch Figures
VIKINGS AT COLTS
• Considering both defenses have some issues covering the pass, this game could feature 800 yards through the air alone. No lead will be safe.
NOV. 14 NFL 3-inch Figures
SEAHAWKS AT RAMS
• Youngsters Matt Hasselbeck (Seattle) and Marc Bulger (St. Louis) still need to define themselves in big games, particularly after critical failures in the playoffs last season.
NOV. 21 NFL 3-inch Figures
BRONCOS AT SAINTS
• The Broncos figure to have their hands full with Saints RB Deuce McAllister and the vertical-heavy New Orleans passing game. As for the Saints, they are forever potential's team.
NOV. 28
BUCCANEERS AT PANTHERS
• These teams put together two brutally tough games last season. The Bucs lost both by a field goal, the victories helping vault the Panthers to the division title and eventually to the Super Bowl.
DEC. 5
PACKERS AT EAGLES
• For both teams, this game may be a last stand in their current effort to get back to the Super Bowl before heavy rebuilding.
DEC. 12
SEAHAWKS AT VIKINGS
• The Vikings faded badly at the end of last season after a great start. The big problem was that the defense simply gave way. The hope is that the draft has helped significantly and will prevent a repeat.
DEC. 18
PANTHERS AT FALCONS
• The best one-man show in the NFL is Michael Vick, but he had big problems with the Panthers in his lone matchup with them last season. Perhaps a full year of health will help.
DEC. 27
EAGLES AT RAMS
• The key difference in this game figures to be the speed-rushing ability of Eagles DE Jevon Kearse. On artificial turf, Kearse should be even more of a weapon.
JAN. 2
COLTS AT BRONCOS
• Figures to be another serious playoff preview with the winner getting a big up in the AFC playoff seeding, behind New England.
