Keltic Hero
By Autumn Laird
I am the hunter, I am the singer,
I am the dancer, I am the maker,
I am the forger, I am the warrior,
I am the sun, I am the hero,
I am the one who legends are made from,
I am the keening sword on the field of men,
I am the blistered thumb from the cauldron stirrings,
I am the one whose flight is the eagle,
I am the stag in the forest protecting the mysteries,
I am spear tipped with blood,
I am the shield of honor shining in the sun,
I am the sword of truth fighting false tongues,
I am a bird who sings from the gateway of the Otherworld,
I am a frog whose skin is medicine who heals,
I am wolf who hunts the lonely shadows of the moon in the calm wood,
I am a adder who basks in the company of the ancient stones,
I am the boar whose tusks are a weapon of madness and strength,
I am the proud bear whose light shines forth in power and right,
I am a dragon who springs from the earth to the air with fire in the eyes,
I am the calm seal who swims in a vast sea of changing mists,
I am a salmon who moves upstream to find where we once began,
I am the dog who is lean and loyal to the hunt,
I am the fox who escapes the battle trumpets with sly cunning,
I am the rabbit who dances in the bathing moon,
I am the cat who teaches patience and love for the mysteries above,
I am the bee who holds fast for the sake of the community,
I am the horse who bears the weight of the battle front and carries the flag of triumph,
I am the bull who is lightening masculine,
I am the hero who is embodied by tales of battle cries and blood,
I am the lover and father who's gentleness must equal strength,
I am the code by which man must earn faith, honor, and trust,
I am the babe who once suckled the mother as every man does,
And by fortune lies my blood with continue pulse with life in every moment of windy strife,
For I am the Keltic Hero speaking still from beyond the grave,
To instill now in my ancestors the life I craved to live by.
