Ambition
My dreams are all I have
Nothing else is mine
My achievements all must rest
On another's striving hands
And yet I hope that I one day will
Pay my way in this winding world
Holding my dreams now
Not as solace and salve
For these wounds to my pride
But as a goal to be conquered
By my own mind and hand
And I must remember that
Some dreams are dearer unwon
The mountain from the summit
Seems lower than from below
And sometimes a dream is thus
More joyous free
Than conquered and set aside.
