Sun beats down on unyielding Earth
Elements struggle fiercely
Across this planet's wailing girth
Air and water and whirlwind
Life is conflict and pain
A hopeless struggle
And we fight in vain.
Are we not born to die?
And yet fight we must
If we wish to stay sane
And put our trust
In others' hands
In the whisper of cooling rain.
