BAST'S POETRY
At Last Free
By
Lloyd G Bast
The Hoopsters were all hooped out
The Pucksters were all pucked
The Fans were bright as light bulbs
Light Bulbs that had burnt out
The Fencers had built fences
The Boxers were all boxed
The Golfers were just chasing balls
The Hunters were outfoxed
The Kangaroos were all in court
The Courtiers in the dell
The Sportsmen could not win at life
Their lives had gone to hell
The Kamikaze Pilots
Had flown their last sortie
They’d all Bonsied into large ships
Their last act set them free
But when the games were over
And all was said and done
Nothing had been accomplished
The games had not been won.
