One Evening

Would you like to come to the park with me today?
We can swing on the swings, run around and play.
We can sit on the slide and talk about life.
You tell me your thoughts, and I'll share with you mine.
We can walk along the path, hold hands.
You don't even have to say a word, I understand.
We can lay on a blanket and stare at the stars.
I'll show you where Orion's belt and the big dipper are.
We can sit in the car and listen to some music.
You can change it through the middle of the song-
Even though I'm not quite used to it.
I'll drop you home tonight - since you drove late time.
We'll talk for an hour like we usually do.
About nothing in particular - just what's on our minds.
I'll give you a long hug - cuz I don't like to let you go.
I'll hope that you kiss me this time,
Like the time I was half-naked and it was cold.
I'll get those butterflies inside,
Like so many that I'd feel I could fly.
I won't let you see me blush though,
I can't let you know how you get to me.
But maybe one day you'll understand how I feel.
And what's more, I hope you'll feel the same.
Because you are the equal opposite of me...
...And I could say a million words more,
About how you're so right for me,
But if it is so right - then it's obvious, I think.

I omitted four lines of this poem towards the end, as indicated by the points of elipsis, but the message remains the same and for the same. © 2002 bounce.to/blacklabb
