That Demon Alcohol
                                       by Eric L. Giese
It was the summer of 1977,
I had turned 25 the month before.
When I confronted that demon alcohol,
It had seduced me like a whore.
Available to give me comfort and warmth,
it had always lured me back.
Much to my surprise I found,
my dignity and self-esteem were under attack.
A 12-step group took me in,
to show me their sober way.
It's been 25 years since drinking alcohol,
it gives me great pride to say.
If you value you peace of mind,
or your sanity.
Look out for that demon alcohol,
or it could bring you misery.
