Poetry by Paganini Jones & TRC Beaver

line drawing - "Tunisian Typewritten Night" (c)Dean Pasch

Loving silence and with the sound of typewriter keys and Art Blakey in mind - a text that uses the word 'silence' to provide an answer has my vote all the way. - Dean

Silence
by Paganini Jones

the day she left
he threw out the typewriter
declaring
it wrote only lies
that truth
was too terrible
for its clacking keys
that anyhow
his Muse was just daydreams
that Tunisia
was dust and beggars
that the honeymoon
was over
the divorce
yet to begin
and

that
silence
was only an answer

The romance won me over - and the line breaks too … and the 'I' left dangling on the precipice was the uncomfortable moment that said (to me) "yes". - Dean

MEDITERRANEAN SEA-NOMAD LETTER
by TRC Beaver

At Tripoli I wrote you a letter scented
with the spray of the sea, my heart sang
words, feelings, into paper, keys pounded
a beating pulse of life and love in the night.

Typing by the light of a candle I heard the surf.

In Tunisia your letter was waiting for me.
My letter I will not send, meaningless now;

This night by the light of my candle
I will not type, melted wax will seal the bottle I
found between there and here, an empty vessel.

My letter of love inside, waiting for the tide
it will sail, a nomad seeking again...dry land.
